Update instructions

Preparation:

  • Find the update mp3 (link above). Make sure you can play it without hiccups.
  • Turn off all notification sounds. Stop the Facebook app, Discord, etc. Any other sounds will interrupt the upload.
  • Connect the Lights module with a patch cable to the line out of your computer or phone. A normal mono patch cable will do fine.

Ok, then you’re ready to go:

  • Turn the modular rack power off first.
  • Turn power back on while pressing and holding the button on your Lights. The lights module should say on its screen: “BOOTLOADER” and then “READY”.
  • Turn the volume up! It’s best to play the mp3 at full volume on a laptop or phone. (External audio interfaces with hot outputs are usually loud enough even if you don’t.)
  • Play the mp3. Watch the blue update bar fill up on Lights.

When the update is complete, a red bar briefly flashes on the screen. The update is complete.

If something goes wrong, a message “ERROR” will appear on the screen. Likely a notification sound interrupted the mp3, or the volume was too low. You can simply try to play the same mp3 again. If the error persists (sometimes it can happen), try one more time to turn the power off and back on again on the Lights and try the update again.
