Update instructions

Preparation:

  • Connect the Lights module with a patch cable to your computer or phone. A normal mono patch cable will do fine.
  • Find the update mp3 (link above). Make sure you can play it without hiccups.
  • Turn off all notification sounds. Stop the Facebook app, Discord, etc. Any other sounds will interrupt the upload.

Ok, then you’re ready to go:

  • Turn the modular rack power off. While pressing the button on your Lights, turn power back on. The lights module should say on its screen: “BOOTLOADER” and then “READY”.
  • Turn the volume up! It’s best to play the mp3 at full volume (on line outputs — this is not necessary if you are using an external audio interface with hot outputs.)
  • Play the mp3. Watch the blue bar fill up on Lights.

When the update is complete, a red bar briefly flashes on the screen. The update is complete.

If the update is interrupted, a message “ERROR” will appear on the screen. This was likely due to a notification sound or because the output level was low. It is fine to try playing the same mp3 again. If the error persists (it can happen), try one more time to turn the power off and back on again on the Lights and try the update again.
